I would like to expand on that idea of an alien race somewhere who has evolved into telepathy but there are still schools of speech and song and those who devote their life to such are highly esteemed within the alien society. There will be Good singers and Evil singers. Language and song will become a sort of warfare. Magic of sorts within the words. Entire choirs will battle upon large scale fields. "Pain" and "death" will be words of Evil, and the Good will only practice restraint words such as "shackle" and whatnot... something like that choir thing. I guess it sounds kind of Harry Potter-ish as well but with less Latin influence and less feminism.
