A woman in one hand and a wad of
Cash in the other,
The lawyer sleeps in his upscale New York apartment house,
His dreams fall short of his reality.
Twice the age of his wife,
A life worth no complaints.
Can you say he's shallow?
No, his lifestyle does not prevent deep
Intrinsic thought.
Is he numb and unaware of philosophy because
He was born into a well to do?
No, he has thoughts about purpose and
About the work he does and why he does it;
He also has plenty of money.
But he gives accordingly,
Ten percent of his earnings
To a variety of charities.
He's open minded,
No pressing morals obscure his natural judgments
Of others, or how to solve certain social issues.
This man is fine.
He has gone as far as any other.
Relatively uncorrupted by money or power,
And enjoyably sociable.
No damnable flaws and better adjusted that most.
Why didn't he become an Astronomer?
How did he resist his curiosity?
Does he want others to search for knowledge,
And he will just follow them?
Is he excited about scientific advancement?
Maybe.
I don't think there is anything wrong with him
Anymore.
