A year and a day ago exactly marks the debut post of josephmoullet.blogspot.com. How momentous?!
This has been the best week so far. I'll go in reverse.
Today I went to a potluck for the UASCIENCE volunteers at Biosphere 2. I am volunteering at an observatory on campus and I am also trying to volunteer at several other areas that are governed by the College of Science at UA. If you don't know what Biosphere 2 is, then I suggest you learn more about it because it is extremely interesting and really cool. All the volunteers took a free tour through Biosphere 2. They have a rainforest, desert, and ocean, all with sublevels of ecosystems. I brought my Uncle, my cousin, and one of my Uncle's friends along. It was one of the most fantastic things I have done since being here, and I won a Biosphere shirt from the raffle.
Yesterday, the restaurant "Chipotle" was giving out free burritos from 5pm-8pm and whoever came in got a free burrito. It actually makes sense, because each burrito costs about 4$, minus the mark-up, and for those 3 hours they probably gave out around 2000 burritos. So that's only around 8000$ -+ 1000. Now compare that to the cost of making a commercial and the effects that the two different advertising strategies would result in their customers. While we were waiting in line they were taking volunteers to play a side-game of "The Price Is Right" for a free shirt. I volunteered and the question was "How many people, daily, does 'Chipotle' serve, nationwide?" and the first guy guessed 1.3 million, and the second girl guessed 4.5 million and I guessed 1, and the last guy guessed 9 (thank God he didn't guess 2), and the answer was 750,000, so I got the t-shirt and waited in line for another 1 and 45 minutes before I got my giant delicious free burrito and 5 refills of lemonade.
In my English class there were only 2 "A's" given out on the literary analysis essay, and mine was 1 of them.
Good week, I don't know what else to write.
Involvement is absolutely key.
