Avant-gard

An aegis to every man, woman, and child.
I'll be the protection
I'm The Aegis
The Bulwark
Rome would fall before I would
An ever shifting and morphing sanctuary
Adytum

So what if I use Thesaurus.com. Does that make my poetry less genuine? But then again, why do I look for obscure words? So that my reader will have to look it up? So that I seem like a deeper person? A more mysterious person? A more intelligent person? I do remember the obscure words that I look up and use. No. Now I've found a rationalization for trying to impress people. I'm trying to spread knowledge.

Heaven is out of reach to
The giant rumbling arms of the Earth
And its stinging breath
And its fires
And Mother Nature
The Good's own personal hermitage
Lake Oswego.

just because you use obscure words, that doesn't make your poetry any less meaningful. you used words that have been lost throughout time, which is a great pity... it would be nice to see more poets use these when trying to spread knowledge rather than impress the reader
